Ultralight Hunting Shelters
At KUIU, we offer two types of tents- external-pole tents and trekking-pole-pitch shelters. In this overview, you’ll learn the best application and benefits of our shelters. If your goal is to trim every ounce possible, a trekking pole pitch, single wall, floorless shelter should be in your hunting gear list. With multiple configurations, you can easily adapt to what the hunt conditions call for.

SUMMIT STAR 1 PERSON TENT
4.7 ★★★★★ Rated
Built for modularity and maximum internal space at an incredibly lightweight, this one-person tent is single-trekking-pole supported, single wall, and suitable for spring, summer, and fall seasons. With 43 square feet of floor space, you’ll have room for all the gear that one person can carry.
It can be pitched using a trekking pole or the collapsible Summit Star 1P Pole.
This tent can be set up in multiple configurations. (Fly, mesh body, poles, and footprint sold separately):

FLY ONLY:
1 lbs 3.2 oz / 544 g
If you’re a pure minimalist, or using a bivy bag, and you only need protection from what may come from above, this is the lightest configuration.
The drawback to using it as a fly only, is you get no protection from ground saturation and condensation from evaporating ground moisture may collect on the inside.

Fly and Footprint:
1 lbs 8 oz / 680 g
This configuration keeps you dry from rain, ground saturation, and minimizes condensation from evaporating ground moisture.
The drawback to this configuration is minimal protection from insects.

Fly and Mesh body:
2 lbs 5 oz / 1049 g
With the addition of the mesh body with bathtub style waterproof floor, you get protection from insects and ground moisture.
You also get a level of protection from inside condensation. Instead of drips falling directly on you, they land on the mesh and evaporate.
Here’s a review from Allen Bolen on this configuration.

FLY, MESH BODY, AND FOOTPRINT:
2 lbs 13 oz / 1185 g
With all three components, you get most possible protection from rain, ground saturation, and condensation.
