Mule Deer Hunting Layering System

Mule deer habitat stretches from Mexico to the Yukon and anywhere between. This wide-ranging span of distance, along with varying terrain, climate, and habitat make it seemingly impossible to recommend one set of gear for the places they call home. With our technical layering system, we make it possible.

Quiet, durable, and comfortable, this gear list is designed as a skin-to-shell system that starts with the essentials for early-season archery hunts and layers up for cold late-season rut hunts.

IF YOU HAD TO PICK ONE KIT TO DO IT ALL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

We’re a full-stack hunting company that builds specialized layers for all conditions and levels of activity. Whether you’re in full pursuit or patiently waiting, we build a layer specific for the application. But we often get asked: “If you had to pick one kit to do it all, what would it be?” This mule deer hunting layering system performs when and where you need it.

*For an ideal fit, follow our sizing guides. If upsizing is recommended, it will be noted next to the item below, otherwise go with your normal measured size.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN.

If you prefer Merino for its natural performance, swap out what’s recommended here to one of our other high-performance base- and mid-layer options. If you’re only hunting in hot conditions, consider our lighter and more breathable Tiburon Pant and Gila LS Hoodie.

Check out our soft-shell pants like the Axis Hybrid Pant and Guide Pant if you’re only gearing up for the cold and wet. If you run hot or cold, or are active versus stationary while hunting, scale the recommendations to your personal preferences.

For states and hunts that require blaze hunter orange, check out the Precision Hunter Vest. Built with advanced high-stretch fabric and dual wear configurations, this blaze orange hunting vest comfortably fits over a single base layer, all the way up to insulated outer-layers.
