How to Wash and Treat Waterproof Rain Gear and Outer Layer Hunting Clothes

WASHING:
Regularly laundering and treating your rain gear and outer layers is vital for peak performance. Clean and freshly treated outer layers will bead water, resist saturation, breathe well, and keep you dry. Grangers Wash + Repel Clothing 2in1 effectively cleans inside-and-out and treats waterproof membranes so they remain breathable. This wash also features an added solution to improve water resistance.
Do not use ordinary washing detergents, they contain UV brighteners, softeners, and fragrances that can clog the microporous waterproof membrane. For specific washing instructions, always reference the product care label.

DURABLE WATER REPELLENT (DWR) TREATMENT:
This step is often overlooked but is vital to waterproof and water-resistant performance. Left untreated, the face fabric will wet out, retain water, and restrict breathability. Once breathability is restricted, your sweat cannot pass through the membrane and wet-out from the inside may occur.
With any waterproof/breathable rain gear, if it does not bead water like a fresh-waxed auto finish, it needs to be treated with DWR. Water-resistant treatments also help fabrics dry quicker if they become saturated.
APPLICATION:
Straight out of the wash while the garment is still damp, place on a hanger or lay out flat and spray with Performance Repel Plus Spray. Allow to air-dry naturally or follow your care label’s drying instructions.
STORAGE:
It’s best to store your clothing on a hanger or folded in a tote or drawer.
